Since starting, I've only gone out running twice. So I'm 4 days behind schedule, but I think I'm doing well. I went and skimboarded over the weekend for 30 minutes and was completely beat up from falling on the sand so I counted that as a workout but there wasn't any mileage.
I did 3.4 miles the first run, and last night at 30 minutes before midnight, I ran 2 miles. Last night was strange because I wasn't exactly planning on going running. My day had just slipped away and there was no time to get out there. Then I just knew that I had to go run that night or else I'd never really get into the habit of running and this was the breaking point. So I started out thinking, ok just go slow. Just go slow. Relax and just focus on going slow.No. Way. 4 minutes into it I was up to a nice steady pace and kept my focus on that pace the whole time. I probably slowed for the hill but that's normal. All in all ~14 minutes for ~2 miles is pretty darn good for a midnight run. I'm going to estimate that it was ~ a 7.5m pace, which puts me at 23 minute 5k if I can keep that pace for another mile. I'm going to put in some distance this week and work in a speed workout and a hills workout. I'm setting the short term goal of running at least 25 miles in next week, which translates into 6 miles in the next 5 days. I hope to put in two 5 mile runs, and one 10 mile run, plus then a 5 mile speed workout (total mileage, not all at once), plus a ~1.5 mile hill workout.
Next week is going to be a 1mile time trial where I'm going to push myself and try an run as fast as I can. I'll probably go down to the high school and run it there on tuesday. Then go for a nice 5 mile cool down run to the beach and walk back. Wednesday would be 5 miles speed, Thursday 6 miles just at a comfortable pace, Friday would be me going to the beach and skimboarding, and saturday would be another 10 mile run at a nice pace.

Nice first week. I wish I was able to do some of these things. Perhaps when I get closer to my goal weight some of these activities will be easier.

Just talking to you makes me feel fat, which is good motivation. Plus, runners have great legs and butts (I bet you have a fine ass). But I don’t think I could ever be a runner… that whole impact thing would kill me (kind of like it’s killing you). I say go for some more skimboarding! Let’s see some pictures!
